1. What are the qualifications to register to vote?

Every resident of the state is qualified to register to vote if the person:
•is a citizen of the United States,
•will be 18 years of age on or before the next general election,
•has not been convicted of a felony, unless civil rights have been restored, and
•has not been adjudicated an incapacitated person

For a first-time felony conviction, civil rights are automatically restored upon completion of a person's sentence and payment of any fines and restitution.

2. How do I register to vote?

Complete and submit a voter registration form to the Elections Office either in person or by mail, or you may register online if you have an Arizona Driver’s License or Arizona State Identification Card issued after 9/30/1996.

3. Where are voter registration forms available?

Paper forms are available at the following locations:
• Coconino County Elections Office
• City or Town Clerk offices
• Libraries, and other government agencies
• Chapter houses and tribal office on the reservations
• You may also request a form to be mailed to you or download a form from our website.

4. When is the deadline to register to vote or update my registration?

A registration form must be completed and submitted to the Elections Office no later than 29 days before the election in order to be registered for that election. A voter ID card will be mailed 2 to 4 weeks after your registration is processed.

5. When do I need to update my registration?

You will need to submit a new registration form whenever you have a change of residence, name, or political party preference. If you have not moved and only need to change your mailing address, you may do so by calling the Elections Office at 928-679-7860 or toll-free 800-793-6181.

6. How do I vote early?

Early voting is available:

• In person at the Elections Office or any early voting site starting 27 days prior to an election; or
• By mail by requesting an early ballot from the Elections Office or signing up for the Permanent Early Voting List. Early ballots may be requested up to 93 days before an election and are mailed out beginning 27 days before an election.

7. I have temporarily changed my mailing address. Will my election materials be forwarded?

No, election mail is never forwarded. Please notify the Elections Office whenever you change your mailing address. Any mail sent to an address with a forwarding order or “temporarily away” order will be returned to the Elections Office as undeliverable.

8. I never received my early ballot, or I spoiled it, lost it, or destroyed it. How do I receive a replacement?

Contact the Elections Office (928) 679-7860 or call toll-free at (800) 793-6181. A replacement ballot may be requested to be mailed to you up until 11 days prior to an election.
