[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested on One Count of Child Molestation

Valle, AZ; Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives arrested a 44 year-old man of Valle, Arizona on one count of Child Molestation involving a seven year-old child.

On Wednesday, April 9, 2014 a Sheriff’s Sergeant who is assigned to the Williams/Grand Canyon Patrol Division was dispatched to a school located in an unincorporated community within Coconino County to speak to a school official regarding an allegation of Child Molestation. Upon his arrival the Sergeant spoke with the victim’s mother and learned that her seven year-old daughter had disclosed to her that she was molested by a man who was living with them. The victim’s mother described the man as her “Common-Law-Husband.”

According to the victim’s mother, she lives with her daughter and the suspect at a residence located in Valle, Arizona. Valle is an unincorporated community located at the junction of Highway 180 and State Route 64 south of the Grand Canyon. The mother believed the alleged molestation occurred when she was at work and her daughter was left home alone with the suspect. A detective was assigned to the case and he contacted the suspect at his place of employment. During a subsequent interview the suspect made statements implicating himself in the crime of Child Molestation. The suspect was arrested for one count of Child Molestation and was booked into to the Coconino County Detention Facility located in Flagstaff.

The suspect’s name and booking photo are being withheld in an effort to protect the victim’s identity.
