[ARCHIVED] Flagstaff Man Arrested for Shooting Death of Girlfriend

Flagstaff, AZ - On Friday, December 07, 2012 at about 6:00 pm Coconino County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested nineteen year-old Maurice Holmes of Flagstaff for one count of First Degree Homicide in connection with the shooting death of twenty seven year-old Alisha Joe also of Flagstaff.
On Friday, at about 11:23 am Coconino County Sheriff’s Emergency Dispatchers received the report of a shooting at a residence located on Black Horse Road in the Cosnino neighborhood located East of Flagstaff off of Interstate Highway 40. Deputies, medical personnel from Guardian Medical Transport and Summit Fire Fighters responded to the location. Upon their arrival first responders found the female victim identified as Alisha Joe lying on the floor of a back bedroom in the residence. Guardian Medical Personnel provided medical care but determined that Ms. Joe was deceased Also present at the residence was Maurice Holmes who identified himself as the victim’s boyfriend Detectives secured the premises and obtained a search warrant.
During the ensuing investigation Detectives learned that the residence on Black Horse Road was the home of one of the suspect’s relatives. Maurice Holmes was driven to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office located in Flagstaff where he was interviewed. As the result of interviews with Mr. Holmes and other parties Detectives arrested him for one count of First degree Homicide of Alisha Joe. Mr. Holmes was taken to the Coconino County Detention Facility where he was incarcerated.
As of 6:00 pm on Friday evening Sheriff’s Detectives continued to search and process the crime scene. This investigation will be continued by Detectives and personnel from the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
