Page, Arizona: Sergeant Aaron Clouse and Sergeant Michael Runyan of the Coconino CountySheriff’s Office Page Detention Facility have recently received the national designation of Certified Jail Officer through the Jail Manager Certification Commission, by the authority of the American JailAssociation. They are two of less than 400 jail professionals nationwide to have achieved thisdesignation.
This certification has been achieved through the successful completion of a background application and an intensive electronic examination prepared by the Jail Manager Certification Commission andAmerican Jail Association. Certification in jail operations is a demonstration of competency andprofessionalism in the field. The jail officer’s certification documents the mastery of a strong level ofknowledge in the specialty and demonstrates continuing education and growth.
Sergeant Clouse has been employed as a Detention Officer for 10 years, 8 years as a DetentionSergeant. He is a Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Detention Academy Instructor and graduate of the Arizona Leadership Program. His other accomplishments include certification as a Field TrainingOfficer and he serves as a Quality Assurance Specialist.
Sergeant Runyan has been a Detention Officer for 9 years, 6 years as a Detention Sergeant. He is thePage Detention Firearms Instructor and is also a recent graduate of the Arizona Leadership Program. Sergeant Runyan is also trained in Critical Incident Stress Management and is a Field Training Officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
Additional Personnel assigned to the Detention Facility located in Flagstaff who have achieved thenational designation of Certified Jail Officer through the Jail Manager Certification Commission,include: Maria Angleton, Patrick Baze, Christopher Holdread, Tom Hover, Alexander Lucas, WalterSuchowiejko, Sue Thompson and Ronald Wagoner. Lt. Matt Figueroa and Commander Kurt Braatzhave earned the distinction of Certified Jail Manager.
