[ARCHIVED] Man Commits Suicide at Ft. Tuthill

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Ft. Tuthill on Saturday, Dec. 1 for a 57-year-old Scottsdale man who appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

The subject was found inside his vehicle parked at Ft. Tuthill.

The Sheriff's Office received the call about 11:44 a.m. Saturday from a woman who advised her boyfriend had just called her and made suicidal statements. The caller believed her boyfriend was in his vehicle, described as a white Saturn four-door sedan and that he was in the area of Ft. Tuthill.

It is believed the victim used his vehicle On-Star device to call his girlfriend. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle in the area of Ft. Tuthill with the victim inside.

Deputies observed that the man suffered what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the head and found a semi-automatic pistol near the victim. The victim was immediately transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center by Guardian Medical Transport where he was later pronounced deceased.

This investigation will be continued by Detectives and Personnel of the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s office.
