[ARCHIVED] Pawn Shop Transactions Lead to Burglary Arrest

Flagstaff, AZ: Twenty five year-old Colt Henson was arrested by Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 for one count of Misdemeanor Theft, three counts of Trafficking Stolen Property, one count of First Degree Burglary, and one count of Felony Theft of a Firearm.

During the past year, Deputies assigned to the Williams/Grand Canyon Patrol District have investigated approximately five residential burglaries in the Garland Prairie area which is located south of Parks, Arizona. During an unrelated investigation, Mr. Henson’s name was mentioned as a possible suspect. In response to this, a Sergeant checked local pawn activity by Mr. Henson. This inquiry revealed that Henson had recently sold two items, one of which was a shotgun of an uncommon caliber and model and the other was a necklace depicting an oriental symbol. It is strongly believed that both items were taken during one of the residential burglaries that occurred in Garland Prairie. The Sergeant confirmed that it was Henson who sold the items by reviewing paperwork and video surveillance footage from the pawn shop.

On Wednesday, November 28, 2012 a Deputy made contact with Mr. Henson. During an interview, Mr. Henson admitted involvement in the residential burglary during which the shotgun and necklace were taken. Sheriff’s Office personnel will continue this investigation to determine whether or not Mr. Henson is responsible for any other of the burglaries in the Garland Prairie area.
