[ARCHIVED] Images Recorded by Game Camera Lead to Burglary Arrest

Flagstaff, AZ: Eighteen year-old Winston Taylor Gallagher of Valle, AZ has been arrested for Residential Burglary in Valle which is a neighborhood located between Williams, AZ and the entrance to the Grand Canyon.

During the last six months, Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives have investigated approximately eight residential burglaries that occurred in the Valle area. During one of the investigations, Deputies and the home owner discussed the idea of the home owner posting game cameras around his home in the event the suspect or suspects returned for a second

The home owner reported a second burglary at his residence that is believed to have occurred on October, 31, 2012. He stated he had posted game cameras in strategic locations around his property and believed one of the cameras captured images of a possible suspect. One of the officers who assisted with the investigation was a Sergeant assigned to the Williams Patrol District. The Sergeant viewed the captured images and recognized the person as Winston
Gallagher. The Sergeant was familiar with Mr. Gallagher from previous contacts he had with him.

On November 21, 2012 Deputies and Detectives contacted Gallagher at a residence at which he stays in Valle, AZ. During an interview Mr. Gallagher made statements to investigators implicating him in the first burglary as described above. Mr. Gallagher was arrested for one count of Residential Burglary, one count of Possession of Stolen Property, one count of
Misdemeanor Theft, and one Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was taken into custody at the Coconino County Detention Facility.

On November 24th, 2012, Deputies received anonymous information which resulted in the search of an out-building on Mr. Gallagher’s property. During the search, they recovered approximately 20 items believed to have been taken during residential burglaries.

Deputies received information that Gallagher frequently stayed at two different residences located in the Valle area. On November 27, 2012 Williams District Deputies served search warrants at both homes identified by the caller. They recovered 30 mores items believed to have been taken during at least three of the burglaries that have been reported.

Detectives are continuing this investigation and additional charges are anticipated. Anyone who lives in the Valle, Arizona area and has experienced a residential burglary within the last year is urged to report the crime to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 774-4523.
