SUBJECT: | CCSO Investigating a Fatal Crash on Townsend-Winona Road |

On May 25th at 5:28 pm, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an accident on Townsend- Winona Road near Rio Rancho Rd. Upon arrival, Deputies found the crash involved 2 vehicles and a motorcycle. Summit Fire Department was also on scene and assisted. The driver of the motorcycle was located and declared deceased on scene. One other driver was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center for minor injuries.
Initial investigation indicates a truck was heading east bound on Townsend –Winona Road and collided with another vehicle and a motorcycle that were traveling westbound. The circumstances behind the collision remain under investigation.
At this time Townsend Winona Rd is closed between Rio Rancho Road and Slayton Ranch Road until the investigation is complete. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents who live in the area to find an alternative route home until the investigation is complete and the roadway reopened.
This incident remains under investigation by Deputies with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. No further information is available at this time. CCSO will update this release when the roadway opens.
