CCSO Gearing Up for Busy Independence Day Weekend
Coconino County, AZ; - The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office would like to take the opportunity to remind you that our deputies will be actively patrolling this holiday weekend. Deputies will be out in force patrolling the neighborhoods, highways, roadways, public lands, lakes, and rivers of Coconino County 24 hours a day throughout the weekend.
Our mission is to provide a safe atmosphere for the residents and public to recreate. Deputies will be taking a zero-tolerance approach to the enforcement of OHV/UTV laws, as several people every year die or are seriously hurt or injured while on OHV/UTV’s. Those who are contacted violating laws and acting in an unsafe manner will be held accountable for their actions. Already this year, we have responded to and investigated several crashes resulting in fatal or near fatal injuries.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Rt. 66 DUI Task Force, which is a multi-agency DUI task force consisting of 13 agencies focused on enforcement efforts in jurisdictions along Route 66 from New Mexico to California. These enforcement efforts will be targeting people who make the decision to drive impaired and/or irresponsibly. CCSO would like to thank the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS) for the funding to provide extra Deputies to patrol the roads and highways of Coconino County over the weekend. Our continued partnership with AZGOHS benefits the citizens and visitors of Coconino County throughout the year by providing funding for extra patrols and equipment for highway safety.
As the monsoons have moved in and Fire Restrictions have been lifted, we urge all residents and guest to still use caution and best safety practices when enjoying an open fire. In addition, please remember when using fireworks (airborne fireworks are illegal in Coconino County) to also use your best judgement. If you witness the use of illegal fireworks, contact the National Forest Dispatch Center at 928-527-3552 or the CCSO Non-emergency phone number at 928-774-4523 extension 1.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office want to wish everyone a safe and wonderful holiday weekend. Please join us in our mission to keep everyone safe on the roads as you enjoy the Fourth of July Weekend. # # #
