[ARCHIVED] Fire at Cave Creek

Flagstaff, AZ –

June 18th, at 0945 hours, Fire crews camped on FS 556 viewed a fire across Highway 89 and responded to contain it. The crew noted a Dark skinned native or Hispanic male at the origin of the fire. The individual fled on foot, east towards Caves Crater, when fire fighters arrived on scene.

The suspect is described as Dark skinned native or Hispanic male, wearing old blue jeans, a gray t-shirt with a large tear on the right side. The male was about 5' 10"-5'-11", has short black hair, and around 30 years old. The subject was described as being dirty.

The fire was on the East side of Hwy 89, south of Landfill Road. and was originally 2' x 2' when they were on scene and then it engulfed a log the suspect was near. Forest Service Investigators are on scene and collected potential items of evidence at the start location. Fire personnel were able to rapidly contain the fire to a small area around the start/origin and does not present a danger to area neighborhoods or residences.
