[ARCHIVED] Coconino County Thanks Governor Ducey for Declaration of Emergency After Tunnel Fire

Tunnel Fire Information

The Tunnel Fire, located 14 miles northeast of Flagstaff, started Sunday, April 17 and has spread to over 20,000 acres due to extremely high winds and dry fuels. This declaration will help bring much-needed resources to this emergency.

“Wildfires have become all-too-common occurrences here in Arizona. The fire grew so quickly due to extremely high winds and displaced many of our residents from their homes. We thank Governor Ducey for recognizing this crisis and for supporting our impacted communities,” said Patrice Horstman, Chair of the Coconino County Board of Supervisors. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has evacuated many communities in the fire area.
