InterMountain West Civil Constructors, Inc. is working daylight hours, Monday through Thursday with some weekend work possible. Crews started at the south entrance of Mormon Lake Road and are working northwards through the townsite to just north of the rodeo grounds. The north entrance of Mormon Lake Road will remain open during this phase, and the south entrance of Mormon Lake Road will remain open during construction with flaggers, signage and other traffic controls to guide vehicles through the work zone. Drivers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes at the south entrance during this period.
Once the rodeo grounds are reached, the
north entrance of Mormon Lake Road may be closed so that the contractor can
more effectively work on the northern segment of the project. This closure
would be necessary to complete paving along the entire construction corridor
before temperatures decline significantly during the late summer and early
fall. If the north entrance is closed, then all traffic to and from Mormon Lake
Road will need to use the south entrance.
The project is expected to be completed
by this fall; however, this schedule is subject to change due to weather or
other unforeseen conditions.
The Mormon Lake Road Reconstruction Project
is funded by a Federal Land Access Program (FLAP) grant from the Federal
Highway Administration’s Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFL), which
was awarded to the County in summer 2017. The County’s match of approximately
$5.5 million for this project is funded by Proposition 403, the County’s Road
Maintenance Sales Tax.
