[ARCHIVED] 15 Year-Old Dies in Private Zip-Line Accident

1/27/15 Update: Zip-Line Accident Victim Identity

Forest Lakes, AZ – The 15 year boy who died on Saturday, January 24, 2015 as the result of injuries he sustained while using a zip-line at a private residence in the Forest Lakes area is Antonio Flores of Gilbert, AZ.

Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives are in the process of contacting and interviewing additional witnesses. At this point in the investigation foul play is not suspected.

Information Released on 1/26/15:

Forest Lakes, AZ – On Saturday January 24, 2015 at around 10:20 am, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a 15 year-old male who was involved in an accident while using a zip-line at a private residence in the Forest Lakes Community. The boy, who is from the greater Phoenix area, was participating in a Boy Scout Troop activity at the residence when the accident occurred. The boy succumbed to injuries sustained from head trauma. The victim was transported to the Payson Medical Center where he was subsequently pronounced dead. Coconino County Sheriff’s Detectives and the Gila County Medical Examiner will continue this investigation.
