[ARCHIVED] Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting Death of Subject in the Blue Ridge Area

Blue Ridge, Ariz. – At approximately 2 p.m. today, a Forest Service law enforcement officer was involved in a shooting in the area near Blue Ridge. The officer had contacted the Flagstaff Sheriff/Police 911 Dispatch Center advising that shots had been fired. As Sheriff’s Deputies were en route responding, medics were requested on scene due to a resulting gunshot wound received by a subject.

The subject was transported by medics to Payson Regional Medical Center and was pronounced deceased. The events that led to the shooting are under investigation.

At this time, the name of the deceased subject is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. No further information is available at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
