Learn More About the Remapping Projects

Overview of Kachina Village/Mountainaire Remapping Projects

While the current flood maps were updated to a digital format in 2010, they are based on data and technology more than 25 years old.  These remapping projects used the latest mapping and modeling technology as well as rainfall and other data (such as U.S. Geological Survey’s [USGS’s] 2014 hydrology report) to create the most up-to-date mapping of flood hazards in these two areas:

KACHINA VILLAGE / MOUNTAINAIRE REMAPPING PROJECT

This remapping project encompasses about 20 square miles of streams contributing to the Pumphouse Wash.  The project started in 2009 and initial preliminary maps released in 2013.  With the release of new data from USGS,  it was determined to redo the mapping based upon the updated hydrologic data.  Preliminary flood maps were released for the County to review in July 2020.
