BioBlitz 2015

Wetlands - Home to Many Species

Coconino County Parks & Recreation hosted its first BioBlitz, a coordinated community effort to gather environmental data in one location, on Saturday, May 30, at Pumphouse County Natural Area.

Over 50 people helped identify over 150 species. We looked at birds, wetland wildlife, and wetland plants. Kids and adults enjoyed holding tiger salamanders and identifying snakes. Volunteer leaders with expertise in the fields of snakes, plants, birds, ecology, and biology led the various sessions. Download the BioBlitz species list from the event (excel sheets). Listen to Arizona Public Radio KNAU's Earth Notes story about the BioBlitz.
