County Candidate List

List of Official Write-In Candidates

WHAT IS A PARTISAN PRIMARY ELECTION?
"At primary elections there shall be provided a separate ballot for each party entitled to participate in the primary." (A.R.S. §16-467A)
  • Each "recognized" political party shall have a separate ballot for partisan primary elections.
  • In Arizona, the recognized parties are AMERICANS ELECT, DEMOCRAT, LIBERTARIAN and REPUBLICAN.
  • If you are registered to vote with an affiliation with one of the Recognized Parties, you will receive your party's ballot.
  • If you are registered as INDEPENDENT, NON-PARTISAN, or as a member of a Non-Recognized political party or you did not indicate a political party designation, you may choose ONE and only ONE, of the available recognized party ballots.
  • Once you have chosen a party ballot you cannot exchange it for another party ballot.

Permanent Early Voter List (PEVL) and the August 26th Primary Election

On May 28, a "90 Day Notice" letter was mailed to all the registered voters on the PEVL. The notice contained early voting information for the upcoming August 26th Primary Election and the November 4th General Election. The notice for unaffiliated voters included a form at the bottom of the letter that the unaffiliated PEVL voter can use to request the party ballot the voter wants mailed to him or her for the August 26th Primary Election. Voters who are not affiliated with a "recognized" political party, and who are on the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) will not automatically receive a ballot for the August 26th Primary Election. Unaffiliated PEVL voters must request the party ballot they wish to receive - AMERICANS ELECT, DEMOCRAT, LIBERTARIAN, REPUBLICAN or City/Town Only ballot, when applicable. Unaffiliated PEVL voters may also notify the Elections Office of their ballot choice by phone or online at EARLY BALLOT REQUEST below. The deadline for unaffiliated PEVL voters to request their party ballot be mailed to them is August 15th at 5:00 pm (Arizona time).
