Injury Prevention
Safe Kids in Coconino County LogoRole & Objective
Every year, unintentional injuries kill and disable more children than all other childhood diseases combined. Our goal is to reduce unintentional childhood injury. This is done through child seat safety education and instruction, organizing Safe Kids events, and promoting the use of bicycle helmets.

Basic Car Seat Safety Classes
The Coconino County Public Health Services District is offering:
  • Car seat installation classes (two-hour class once a month)
  • Proper car seat installation instructions / check (by appointment)

Northern Region classes are held at Coconino County Public Health Services District (next door to Lake Powell Medical Center) in the Red Sands Conference Room at 467 Vista Ave., Page, AZ 86046.

Flagstaff area services are available at the Coconino County Public Health Services District, 2625 N. King Street, Flagstaff, AZ 86004.

Safe Routes - National Center for Safe Routes to School LogoSafe Routes to School
Safe Routes to School programs enable community leaders, schools, and parents across the United States to improve safety and encourage more children, including children with disabilities, to safely walk and bicycle to school. In the process, programs are working to reduce traffic congestion and improve health and the environment, making communities more livable for everyone.

These programs are funded in part by the Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health as made available through the Arizona Department of Health Services. This project is supported by funds from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (under grant number 93.994), and Women’s and Children’s Community Health for $150,177.
