Highway 87 re-opened after Tinder Fire evacuation

coconino county sheriff

Road blocks will be removed from HWY 87 at 4 p.m., after a successful and incident free day of re-entry for Tinder Fire affected Blue Ridge-area residents.

Road blocks on the east side of HWY 87, where home loss was most prevalent, will remain in
effect and patrolled by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. Access will be denied to everyone
except residents of those neighborhoods.
Media are asked to respect the public’s privacy as people settle back into their homes and begin
to rebuild.
Please be advised that there is potential for hazardous materials in the area. Soot, ash, nails and
debris are still present in the area and caution is advised to those that have returned to their
homes as well as people visiting the area.
The Individual Assistance Support Center at the Blue Ridge Community Church will continue
operations. State, local and non-profit organizations are staffing the center and offering services
such as mental health support, financial assistance, answering insurance questions and
providing other services for community members.
Those wishing to support incident survivors’ recovery can make a tax-deductible cash donation
via text message by texting “2018Fire” to 41444. People can also donate or volunteer through the
United Way of Northern Arizona website: https://nazunitedway.org) or call the Coconino Call
Center: 928.213.2990.
Coconino County Public Health Services District reminds people to follow the advice of their
doctor or other healthcare providers about medicines and respiratory management plans if they
have asthma or another lung disease.
For further information regarding re-entry, refer to Coconino County’s Tinder Fire Recovery
page at coconino.az.gov/tinderfirerecovery.
